Before You Begin
First, a few notes that will help you prepare your plan for
launching services with Mi8's Hosted Microsoft Exchange:
-
Private Domain
Names: if you are using your own company's domain name, please
note that you must redirect your Mail Exchange (MX) records according to
Mi8's specifications. (This information will be sent to you during the
setup process.) The MX records are part of your domain record; just as your
URL is set up in databases across the Internet (domain name servers) to
point at your web site, so your MX records are recorded in those same
databases to point at your mail server. When you make a change to your DNS,
it can take up to 72 hours for that change to populate across all of the
domain name servers in the world, and during this transition period, you may
receive some emails at your old address, and some at your new Mi8 mailboxes.
Mi8's Client Support Service team is expert at managing these migrations,
and your sales rep will coordinate this plan to guarantee the transition
goes smoothly.
-
Importing Data:
for small groups of users with data in their Outlook files or an internal
Exchange deployment, Mi8 can provide your users with coaching and best
practices documentation on how to export data from your old systems, and
import it to your new systems. For larger organizations with more
complex export/import requirements, Mi8's Systems Operations Team will work
with you to get your data into your new Mi8 mailboxes.
-
Wireless
Devices: Mi8 provides services for a wide variety of wireless
devices, including the popular BlackBerry email pagers/phones, the Treo 600
and 650, and a wide variety of PDAs and Smartphones. However, we do
not sell these devices or the airtime packages that go along with them; we
only provide the services that enable these devices to interact with your
Hosted Exchange mailboxes. If you'd like to provision your wireless
device to connect with your Mi8 mailboxes, please see the
appropriate section below, or contact Mi8's Client
Support Services.

The FastInstall
